Philately and the Brothers Grimm

The Grimm Brothers (Jacob & Wilhelm) are famous for their fairy tales. These fairy tales have stood the test of time and have been the source of inspiration for many movies and even a television series.

They also have been immortalized on postage stamps. Germany issued semi-postal stamps during 1959, 1960 and 1961 that feature the Brothers Grimm and scenes from some of their fairy tales such as Little Red Riding Hood shown below.

Countries from around the world have issued stamps featuring scenes from Disney movies that were inspired by the Grimm Brothers' fairy tales.  Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty and more can be found on US postage stamps and foreign stamps. The stamp pane issued by the USPS featuring Disney villains pays homage to the works by the Brothers Grimm (yes, we have some).

We hope you include postage stamps featuring the Brothers Grimm's works in your collection. As always, happy stamp collecting!
